CAN’T MAKE HER BLINK Thee olde pendulum swingin A worthless illustration Why’s it so hard to part With ideas long broken? Those prior extremes Where's their recognition? It’s gettin hard to know If we’re in the same dimension Meltin down this year They just bridge the fuse It’s no war of words people Have lost all they can lose Attackin the eyes, redden the pink Justice on high - they can’t make her blink Ash and lime - she doesn’t speak But we know pretty well just what she thinks They think we’re all fools Don’t know the world like they do And the more they disapprove The more we’re gettin through There’s no sport with no rules They’re fightin nail and tooth Now their crowd’s in an uproar When they see we bite too Attack on the eyes, red in the pink Justice on high - they can’t make her blink Ash and lime - she doesn’t speak But we know pretty well just what she thinks So what we do’s ineffectual symbolic at best We’re takin criminal foolhardy missteps Our lofty thoughts just some things you spray paint Ah but what we’d do w/o these restraints They think we’re all fools Don’t know the world like they do And the more they disapprove Then the more we’re gettin through By the numbers and smooth They want anything but Don’t put nothin past em now They love to pull the rug they say that we all Want to get to the same place they’d take an ramblin’ route They lie right to your face The same brains from the ‘60’s Are still fightin’ today 1860’s, 1960’s Yeah they’ve fought us all the way Attack on the eyes, redden the pink Justice on high - they can’t make her blink Ash and lime - she doesn’t speak But we know pretty well just what she thinks

Royal Road 03:56
ROYAL ROAD By ancient ways or sleek design They corral your body to get in your mind Animal violence in this civilization Our initiation was all in the code So when you’re 10 you have a party That’s the least I’d say you’re owed You’ve gone so far, so far already Already down, down that royal road There’s another world in every face One hates and one saves, and they’re so much the same A psychedelic rift - you take a lover Could be forever or - just an episode So when you’re 20 you have a party That’s the least i’d say you’re owed You’ve gone so far, so far already Already down, down that royal road Take some time to celebrate Take a turn down the vagabond’s way There’s no shame in where you lay That bread and wine it’s just the earthly cage Runnin blind from the round up You can run right straight into old age Sometimes it feels like, like you’re still runnin Runnin when you’re only just chippin away What a royal mess they made of old Jesus Weren't his life and times real as yours and mine? They cut him quickly but there’ve been many Who read clearly the killers’ code If you turn 30 you have a party That’s the least i’d say you’re owed You’ve gone so far, so far already Already down, down that royal road

ANOTHER WILDFLOWER It’s written in the stars, and whether you’re asleep or awake You read it from afar, first we come and then we take We go out and scrape, we’re always feelin little unless we happen to be Feelin large, we undulate and congregate, it’s just who we are Another wildflower’s gone missing Yeah we’re learnin, to let go all right, and this is just the beginning And i’m somewhat moved but i’m getting used to always losing What disappeared in the night? absence is a sight most searing Transported involuntarily, and for no good reason it seems A shift in the wind or some laundry, can take you out of the present day scene A transcontinental, but you’re comin back, you’re comin back in an instant Forget time and space you were really there, but now all you feel is the distance Another wildflower’s gone missing Yeah we’re learnin, to let go all right, and this is just the beginning And i’m somewhat moved but i’m getting used to always losing What disappeared in the night? absence is a sight most searing Somewhere along the line, I got desensitized I could sit here forever with you, drinkin cheap wine eatin french fries And who am i kidding, it’s still not quite personal for me I could really care more, but i don’t have the means Another wildflower’s gone missing Yeah we’re learnin, to let go all right, and this is just the beginning And i’m somewhat moved but i’m getting used to always losing What disappeared in the night? absence is a sight most searing

Leading a life for which there’s no excuse It’s like a point of pride how people tell people they been seduced Now don’t you go takin away my phony sense of security Because without it where in the world would I be? Sometimes i walk out to the corner, in the middle of the night When there’s no one (else) around, to read the traffic light I can still cross the street, can still make a phone call home I’m still 3 hours in a plane, away from the warzone We’ve heard what we’ve heard, and we know what we know We take things as they come, things are taken from us, that’s the way things go And even if you’re never slippin, the nightmares come rippin So I pray to stay steady: keep a rockin’ but always on the ready Sometimes i walk out to the corner, in the middle of the night When there’s no one (else) around, to read the traffic light I can still cross the street, can still make a phone call home I’m still 3 hours in a plane, away from the warzone Leading a life for which there’s no excuse It’s like a point of pride how people tell people they been seduced Now don’t you go takin away my phony sense of security Because without it where in the world would I be? Fake Lake 04:41
We finally made it to the shores of fake lake Totally surrounded by half-mowed mountains but as far as traps go this is great Happily caught and cooked in a pot cause by the water we’re super cooled But the mountains know, if the dam were to blow we’d all feel fooled Every tragedy’s double, all work turns to rubble, and we end up paper thin When they invented this mirage, they invented sabotage, there’s no life like on the margin O - Are you in with the devine, are you that far out on the line? We need at least that big a sign But things just don’t work out so nice look around Can you be sure who you’re servin now? Some desire misplaced, this could take you down, this could take you out If you can’t see another way To burn like you want to, and as you should, what a burden - not to waste You gotta let go to feel the flow, i don’t know but i’d rather be a liquid than a paste O - Are you in with the devine, are you that far out on the line? We need at least that big a sign But things just don’t work out so nice look around Can you be sure who you’re servin now? Why don’t you just confess, you’re gettin pretty jealous of the unapologetic Girls and guys, just livin their lives, not really thinkin twice, but what you keep forgettin Is that from the outside, you’re so much more alike than not, that’s right And I know it’s upsetting Well have you thought this through at all, will you take that culvert crawl, with the knife stashed in your teeth? How can it be that’s the only way, for you to forge somethin like a belief? O - Are you in with the devine, are you that far out on the line? We need at least that big a sign But things just don’t work out so nice look around Can you be sure who you’re servin now?

Time Machine 07:08
“Time machine” When out I would go it was like I used to know everybody or they knew me If not the name, the face, at least that’s how it seemed though i wasn’t ever much a part of the scene No that couldn’t have been them at the grocery store By now they wouldn’t look like like they did before Every face is familiar, but none I recognize And if we go out at all, it’s always in disguise To say i feel like shit wouldn’t be accurate But I’m tired like you’d only be in a dream And at the same time my mind keeps flittin oh too quickly right from one to another thing Well I’m still askin these questions, the stupidest questions no one should ever have to ask And the answers are given me patiently yeah They’ve been gracious to the last Long as the folly goes on the good times ain’t all gone And i’m just tryin to get this message through you probably already know, without sayin it goes You don’t need me comin to you in a.. “Time machine” It’s the only way to see you now There’s somethin so lonely bout a C’mon let’s share a.. My look gave offense to a local apparition said he wished he could put a bullet in me Said in my eyes he could see i was a snake But i didn’t take it personally At the time i just could not identify as the kind of guy you call a snake more and more I feel like that old blow hard liar That nobody’d wanna touch with a rake But where’s the fun in countin up the dead Before the battle’s even begun? I can’t stand the pressure i’m just going to do whatever And fall asleep to the rising sun Now what’s worth tryin and dyin for? Bryan A. he knows Your child and the woman you’ve always loved But it ain't hardly chivalry to once and a while be Pulling your head up out the muck Now you can try to be humble just work and mumble Embrace the filth in the path you trod But then you wake up screamin in a smoky den Prancin around as if you’re one of the gods Songs of love and strife, of good lovin lost what was there not to believe? And how is it that you hardly do now? You know they’re true but only momentarily And when one of those gods up and dies, seems like Everybody is born anew And you’re left there clenching their bitter script wonderin What it is you’ve been put through.. Another trip in the.. “Time machine” It’s the only way to see you now There’s somethin so lonely bout a C’mon let’s share a.. I’m takin foster road, all the way to damascus there’s a couple free organs up on craigslist Got a few troubles i could use a break from There’s some red lights i shouldn’t have run It’s some good clean fun - the old car in drive And a little stog burnin and the fm dial To think this century is where i happen to live I wouldn’t trade it for any but ah what i wouldn't give for a.. “Time machine” It’s the only way to see you now There’s somethin so lonely bout a C’mon let’s share a.. “Time machine” I gotta fill up the Pick up a half rack of that Baby cue up our “Time machine” The laws you can break in a it’s never too late in a Ah what’s in the bag “Time machine” It’ll make you crazy It’ll totally make you lazy Now it doesn’t even phase me

Just some words off a page And in my head they scream Not just my heritage They're damning to me Sprung from corruption And livin' off of the muck Those twisted roots still function They're what's holding me up Now a confession lodges in my esophagus It's just rude to cough up on a fresh made acquaintance But i can't help it sometimes And i try to reel em on in Even as I get the sense They've got no use for my fictions I can still picture the kid Hear how he must've sounded I'm burnin all I hid What i thought was profound then O vigilance - when you sense That you're the aggrieved Keep givin offense and the shame Regenerates eternally Always sayin the wrong thing - hey Craig that's not a disease No wonder i got popped - I was takin some liberties Who can say how they come across? It's always "what the world's doin to me" I'm chokin on the thanks For what i've unwittingly received You might have all the answers right at your fingertips Might have heard it all before and not let it in Might even know the reason you feel so conspicuous Might be impossible now to start all over again You might have failed to live in the light Might be a petty player in the biggest crime Might identify falsely as a part of the fight It might be wrong to think there's still some time You might always be searchin for an easier route Might have a bad habit of tuning other people out Might be damning explanations for avoiding the crowds Might not be good to be allergic to feeling proud You might have trained for cross-culture encounters You might change the atmosphere of rooms you enter Might be your gravity's makin people's loads heavier You might want to disappear but might be needed here Just some words off a page And In my head they scream Not just my heritage They're damning to me

about

On Dream Journals Vol. 2 Underwater Cliffs gave chase to the fantasy version of the demo songs, inviting friends to strum 12 strings and mandolins, blow their horns, beat on metal masks and gourd husks and dust off old organs. It’s a mix-tape type of an album: There’s a Tigres del Norte meets Misfits birthday celebration, an Ennio Morricone fight song, a celtic take on the NW sound and an American translation of an old French rocker.
